We all know that the wedding day is all about the bride but when it comes to looking fabulous, the mother of the bride is a close second. This is a day that most mothers look forward to from the time their beautiful daughter was just a little girl and every mother wants to look and feel her most fabulous as she greets her guests and takes photos that will last a lifetime.
As we age, our skin changes and what once worked in your 20’s and 30’s doesn’t always work into your 40’s and beyond! With the help of Dr Gabriela’s years of skincare expertise, we have outlined 3 key areas that many mothers worry about.
Follow these tips to create perfect mother of the bride (and mother of the groom) looks to have you looking stunning at any age!
As we mature, the contours of our faces can alter, due to changes in facial fat, collagen, elasticity and skin texture. And whilst there are a number of super treatments we can offer to combat these factors, at Dr Gabriela Clinic we are particularly excited by the response to and success of our thread lift PDO procedures which are now increasingly popular amongst our global clientele.
The reasons for its popularity are clear for all to see. Quite simply, it prevents premature ageing – quickly and for an extended length of time – banishing loose or sagging skin. No wonder our patients look so well and feel so much better about themselves as a result!
Thread lift PDO procedures are performed under local anaesthetic and there is no need for downtime – so they are tailor made for busy Mums who want to feel beautiful without any of the sobering drawbacks of surgery.
Neck and Décolleté
Gone are the days of frumpy dresses for the Mother of the Bride. Since your gown could show a off a little (or a lot!) of neck and décolleté, start taking care of this overlooked region as soon as you can, ideally 12 months before your daughter’s big day. Think of it as an extension of the skin on your face — but remember that this fragile skin is thinner, has fewer oil glands than the rest of the body, and requires special care to keep it supple and smooth. Dr Gabriela recommends starting a regular regimen of 6D Laser treatments to boost collagen, repair sun damage and give this delicate area of your skin a new lease of life.
According to Dr Gabriela, your lips begin to thin for the same reason your skin begins to sag with time: a natural decline in collagen. In your 20s and 30s lips are fuller because less mature skin contains plenty of collagen and naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, which keeps your lips moist and plump from the inside out. Lip size and shape are genetically determined, but all of us sadly tend to get thinner lips over time!
If your lips are naturally smaller too, you may start to notice this in your late 20s and 30s as this is when collagen and hyaluronic acid production start to slow down.
The best tip for a naturally plump look is to start targeting the lips in two ways: starting Laser Lip Plumping a minimum of 6 months before the big day to really kickstart your natural collagen production again. And for those who need a little bit more help, Dr Gabriela advises that a small amount of lip filler would further balance the natural fullness of your lips and restore your prettiest pout.
Remember: all of the above treatments generally take six months of continued use to see best results. Stick with your routine, make regular appointments and don’t be discouraged if you don’t notice a difference right away. As they say: “The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today”.
